We have used these in a CNC machining center using a rigid tapping cycle.
The tap slides into a square and held in by a sprung loaded clamp on the shank of the tap.
Fast and accurate changing of worn taps.
More secure than using a collet chuck and no pushing back.

Also ideal for use in your lathe tailstock and drilling/tapping machines.
